least one photo, excluding the one you took with Sodina at
Langoud. After taking a photo with Sodina at Langoud [Before
you went to Volcanic Island.], you will notice a photo club
machine in every town you went, usually near the Goddess
     Statue.

Note:Each photo costs 300 CG, which is rather quite expensive in
the beginning. Take a photo with the girl when she's in a
     good mood.

Note:You will notice that every print club machine will have these
two frames, one with two swords, and another one with a 'love'
symbol with the word, 'Thousand Arms.' Each print club machine
has a total of 4 frames and two of them are mentioned above.
The remaining two are new ones. This is quite fun, considering
that the last two frames are different depending on which
the pictures are taken from. [Trademark frames...?]

=======================================================================
V)Combat
=======================================================================
Thousand Arms retains some traditional fundamentals like HP, Elemental
Beast, Special attacks and so on etc, while modifying and introducing
some innovative concepts. Thousand Arms introduces a frontline and
backline concept and combat system involves mainly one on one,
involving the frontline character and enemy while the backline
does all the assisting work. Well, are the concepts good or bad?
Along the way, i will list some of the good points and the bad
points about each and every aspect of the concepts. So, whether you
agree or not, it's just my personal view towards the game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.I)Diagram
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.II)HP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess i do not need to explain anymore about HP. It's a tradition
that almost or all of the RPGs cannot get rid of this system. HP,
known as Hit Point sometimes, is widely used in all or most RPGs.
Once Hit Point reaches zero, your character is K.O, meaning he or she
is dead unless you revive him or her. As you gain levels, your HP
will rise.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.III)EP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
[Does EP stand for Elemental Power..?] Anyway, whatever it is called,
most RPGs still can't get rid of using magic points. [Final Fantasy
VIII is an ultimate exception with the introducing of draw system.]
To cast a magic spell, it requires some EP. Once a spell is casted,
you will lose some EP. If EP is not enough, you cannot cast that
particular spell. So, when EP reaches zero, you cannot cast anymore
spells. Simple, as that! As you gain levels, your EP will rise.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.IV)MP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
MP is basically Elemental Spirit and there are two ways of obtaining
MP either by:
a)Earn from battles.
b)Search for Elemental Spirit(s), mainly in towns.

As for (a), i don't think i need to explain much. Now, move on to
(B). Elemental Spirit(s), in my opinion, are quite tricky to find.
Why do i say that?

In the World of Thousand Arms, all things, regardless it is living or
non-living has spirits in it. And, the ultimate goal of a Spiritual
Blacksmith is to train himself to be able to communicate with the
spirits. So, where can spirits be found?

Yes..in houses, or almost everywhere in towns, except in dungeons,
caves etc. [I haven't encountered finding one elemental spirit in a
cave before.] Spirits can be found almost everywhere, even in
swords, cauldron, mailbox and so on. When you come to a new town,
be sure to explore the houses and find all the elemental spirits.

So, what's the ultimate spirits? I believe it's the elemental spirit.
The powerful of all spirits..i suppose..? The road to becoming a
good spiritual blacksmith is not easy...[Did anyone mention about
the Holy Flames?]

Having said so much about elemental spirit, i haven't explained why
there is a need to search or gain more elemental spirits. The reason
is very simple! You need it for dating, forging, learning new
specials and so on. Refer to the various sections for more details.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.V)Frontline and Backline
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thousand Arms incorporate a one-on-one battle system, with the
frontline character does all the attacking and one or two backline
character(s) do(es) assisting the frontline. So, you can have
a maximum of 3 party members fighting in a battle.

Remember in Final Fantasy series? You can switch characters between
front and back row? The concept is quite similar but different. You
can choose one frontline character and a maximum of two backline
characters. It's best to put a character with strong attacks like
Meis, Muza etc in frontline while the rest, mainly the girls at
the backline, and assist the frontline character.

The frontline character can use of the commands that he or she has,
such as Attack, Elemental Beast [For Meis only] /Special [For the
rest, except Meis], Defend, Spell, Retreat, Change and so on. The
backline characters, however can use only commands like Spell,
Standby and Retreat. Take note that the backline characters can
only cast certain spells like curative etc, but not any attacking
spells like fire+, Wind+ and so on. The same concept applies to
monsters as well.

How this combat system works is pretty simple. Okay, when it's the
frontline or backline's turn, choose a command. For example, i
choose a fight command for the frontline. Now, look at the top
right corner of the screen. You will notice a set of Triangles,
one at the top for the frontline, indicated by a word, 'Front'
and one below it, indicated by a word, 'Back'. To the right of
the word, 'Front', you should see the word, 'Attack'. This
indicates that the frontline is about to use the attack command.
The triangles will start to turn darker from right to left and
once all the Triangles turn dark, you should see a X instead.
Now, press X and the frontline character will perform a normal
attack.

How fast the set of Triangles turn darker depend on the character's
agility. The faster your agility is, the faster the set of
Triangles will turn darker and it will mean that you get to
execute action more faster.

Lastly, to switch characters, all you need is to adjust the position
at the party option. You can put a total of 3 characters in the
left. F means frontline and you put the character that you want it
to be in the frontline at the top. The two characters below are
backline characters, indicated by a B, which means backline.
To swop characters during battle, all you need is to select 'NEXT
CHAR command. When the set of Triangles turn darker, press to perform
an action and the the second character, which is the first backline
character will swop with the frontline character. However, the
frontline character will not reappear again in the battle anymore
until the battle ends.

Summary
=======
a)Choose a command for the frontline and backline.
b)Wait for the Triangles to turn darker from right to left.
c)Press X for the frontline character to perform the selected
command and Circle for the backline character to perform
  the selected command.

Note:If you happen to choose a wrong command, press Square to
cancel the frontline action and Triangle to cancel the
     backline action.

Tips:You may not want to use the action immediately. For example,
let the backline uses a cure spell on a frontline character.
However, the frontline character still has a very relatively
high HP so it's not worthwhile to cast Cure spell now. Just
wait and do not press Circle. And, when the frontline is
at lower HP now, cast Cure spell on him to recover him.
Of course, this is just an example only.

Standby
=======
When backline uses the standby command, he or she will perform
either taunts or cheers occasionally. [Refer to the taunts/cheers
section for more informations.]

Comment
=======
The frontline and backline combat is rather innovative but somehow,
the backline characters have very little participation during
combat. Secondly, it allows very little flexibility to come out
with new strategies. Nevertheless, Atlus deserved a clap for
coming out with such a innovative combat system. Of course, some
may like one-on-one combat while some may not. It's a matter of
preference.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.VI)Elemental Beast
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you confused with the word, 'Elemental Beast'? Be..Beast..? Simple
enough, i just make my personal comment. You may just agree or do
not agree. Think of it as summoned creature used in Final Fantasy
series, or simply Guardian Forces but without any HP, exp etc. In
my opinion, the Elemental Beasts are by far the most devastating
attacks that you will find in the game.

So, anything new about elemental beasts? First, don't worry about
whether you can find all the elemental beasts. As the story unfolds,
you will definitely find them all. [Unlike Final Fantasy VIII where
you can forget to draw sometimes..] Yeah, you may think i am talking
crap again. Perhaps, an encouragement..? Okay. This is the real
stuff now.

How many times you can summon a Elemental Beast is limited. You don't
use EP to summon. And, that's something quite new, i will say. Now,
as i have mentioned, Meis is a spiritual blacksmith and therefore,
he can communciate with the spirits. And, throughout the game,
he's the only one who can summon an elemental beast. What's the
downside? Yeah, unlike others, he does not have a special attack.
Okay! Anytime when you are at the status screen or during combat
period, just click on the elemental spirit option and you probably
see a certain number next to the respective elemental beast. The
number actually represents how many times you can summon that
elemental beast. For example, if the number is 2, that means you
can summon that elemental beast for two times.

Qns:How do i increase the number of times i summon an elemental beast?
Ans:Hmm..i believe it's the same thing as special. This is what i
believe and it may be wrong since it doesn't mention anything
about it in any other faq. Read below:

I strongly believe that to increase the number of times of summon
or specials,
a)You need to summon the elemental beasts or use the specials. [at
  least once?]
b)Increase your levels.

For example, initially, i can summon Aquoon for just one time. But,
after gaining a few levels, i realise i can summon it for two
times actually. Of course, this can be wrong too but that's what
i believe in it now! I may be wrong and i'm hoping for someone
to correct me.

Qns:So, when i have used up all the summons, what can i do so that i
can summon the elemental beasts again?
Ans:The concept is the same as using specials. You must regain all
of your HP and EP either through sleeping in an inn [Yeah, sleep,
right?], or fully heal by Benly Brothers or Big Monoliths etc.
And, don't worry if you are confused about who's or what's Benly
Brothers or Monolths. Why? You will know it by the time comes.
So, after you have fully regained your HP and EP, you should be
able to summon the elemental beasts or use special attacks.

Summon List
===========

There are a total of 7 elemental beasts in the World of Thousand
Arms and each elemental beast possess different elemental power.
The list below shows the elemental power, description of attacks
of the elemental beast and the location of getting the elemental
beast.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.VII)Special
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
All characters in the game will be able to learn special, except Meis.
However, unlike Meis, they cannot summon an elemental beast. The
concept is the simiarly to Elemental Beast. There's a number right of
each special and each number indicates how many times you can use
that special. Yeah..someone's complaining i am talking crap again.
Okay..the concepts are similar. So, do read up the two questions
at the elemental beast section, which is just above.

So, how do you learn new special?

I'll summarise it in short! If you want more informations, refer to
the Dating and Forging section. First, raise intimacy level with
a particular girl either by making dates, giving presents or play
mini-games. Make sure your charisma is as high or greater than
the intimacy level. Next, simply forge your weapon with that girl
[The girl which you just increase your intimacy level with her.]
So, as you forge, occasionally, you will learn new specials or
new magic spells.

Note:Unlike the rest, Nelsha does not know new special by increasing
intimacy levels. [Of course, magics still do.] Nelsha's dream
is to become a dressmaster. Basically, she has lots of dresses
or outfits. Depending on which outfit she wears, different
outfits give her different kind of attacks. Don't worry too
much as once you get her, she will have all her outfits, except
School Girl. Simply fortified Rags in any Sacred Altar and wait
for about 10 hours or more, Rags will change to School Girl.
[Refer to Forging section for more details.]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V.VIII)Magic Spells
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
As of all traditional RPGs, there will always be magic spells for you
to cast and this is an element that is even found in today's modern
RPGs, even Final Fantasy.

Unlike most traditional RPGs, you do not learn new magics as your
characters' levels rise. Instead, you need to raise intimacy levels
with girls and when you forge a weapon, you will learn some new
spells or specials. [Refer to the dating section or forging section
for more information.]

V.IX)Taunts/Cheers
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
When you select standby command for backline characters, one of the
backline characters will perform either a taunt or cheer occasionally.
Below shows the list of the descriptions of various taunts and cheers.

Taunts basically make your enemy weaker and cheers basically make
your frontline character more stronger in a way or another.

VI)Dating
=======================================================================
The dating system is by far the most unique and innovative feature
found in Thousand Arms. It's by far one of a few games that has an
RPG/Dating Simulation, if not the first. The dating system is
obviously much cooler than Azure Dreams.

You can start dating a girl once you have become Jyabil's apprentice
by taking Mineral from the ruins to him. To date, go to the Goddess
Statue found in every town and village, talk to the Goddess Statue,
and you will be asked to choose a date, play a mini-game or give
presents to a particular girl.

Whether it is a date, playing a mini-game, or giving a present, it
costs MP and if the girl is in a foul mood [As indicated by a heart],
MP required is higher. The higher her intimacy level is with Meis,
the more MP is required.

Choose date and take the girl to a dating spot. When you reach a
dating spot, you will be prompted whether you want to date here
or not. Note that you can't date anywhere you like in a town or
village and there are specific spots ideal for dating. Choose
yes and your date with your dream girl begins.

Of course, a date can't be of called a date without any conversation.
The girl will ask you many questions and you will be given two options
to choose. Depending on how you choose, you can make the girl happy
or angry. If she is happy, she might give you a kiss, if not, she
may leave anytime. If you want to know what the options are, you can
refer to Dan Simpson 's Thousand Arms walkthrough faq.

Sometimes, a question can get so weird that both choices that are
offered can make the girl angry. Anyway, do not worry! It's sometimes
quite fun to mess up a date. And, i do mean it!

There are a total of 9 girls which you can date and like what Dan
Simpson said, they can be divided into Party Girls and Town Girls.
Party Girls are those who will fight together with you in your party
like Sodina, Wyna and so on. Town Girls will not fight together with
you and you need to find them.

So, what's the big deal here? Okay, find the town girls. You can
only date with specific town girls at specific towns. What do i
mean? Look at the locations like Boyzby, Kant etc and you can
find one Goddess Statue in this area. For example, to date with
Kyoka, you can only go to Boyzby, and no other towns; Marion can
only be dated in Mounthand and no other towns and so on. But, for
party girls, you can date them in any towns, as long as there is
a Goddess Statue. Get that?

=======================================================================
VII)Forging
=======================================================================
Known as the Meister system sometimes, the forging system does away
with the traditional system of powering up weapons and gaining special
abilities. So, what does this mean?

The Meister system, in my opinion, is closely related to the dating
system. Forging simply means make your weapons stronger. Unlike
most traditional RPGs, you do not buy weapons from weapon shops,
neither do you learn new spells or attacks by gaining new levels.

As mention, Meis is a spiritual blacksmith, and of course, he's the
one that can forge a stronger weapon. And, to do that, you need
elemental power from the girls. Sounds strange, huh? The higher your
intimacy level is with a particular girl is, the stronger her
elemental power is when you forge a weapon.

Qns:So, how do you raise intimacy level?
Ans:Simply go to the Goddess Statue, and you can choose to date,
play mini-games or give a gift with or to a particular girl.
To date, simply take the girl to a dating spot. If a date is
successful, she will give you a kiss and MOST LIKELY, your
intimacy level will rise by 1. [Sometimes, you may need at
least 2 kisses.] And note that you need MP to date a girl,
give her a gift, or play mini-games with her. The higher
the intimacy level is and the worse her mood is [look at the
heart!], you will need a higher MP. Of course, don't forget
that intimacy level can drop too if the date is a failure.
[Refer to the dating system above for more informations.]

Now, the level of your weapons depend on the characters' levels.
So, if Meis's levels is lv 60, he can forge a lv 60 weapon sword.
A higher level will of course require a higher MP. Also, assuming
Meis is at level 50 and 55 and your existing weapon is at lv 40.
Obviously, to forge a lv 55 weapon, it will require a higher MP
than forging a lv 50 weapon.

Before you forge a weapon, you will be asked to choose a girl to land
her elemental power to you to forge a weapon. Depending on which
girl you choose, it brings in different attributes to your weapon.
For example, Sodina will give you light attribute to your weapon and
Wyna will lend you fire attribute to your weapon and so on. However,
if the intimacy level is not changed with that particular girl,
you will not learn any new attacks or magic spells.

Before that, let me introduce another term called 'Charisma'. [Charm,
huh..?] First, go to the status screen and look for Meis. In Mei's
status screen, you should be able to notice his Charisma.

Both Intimacy level and Charisma range from 1, being the weakest to
10, being the strongest. Intimacy level and Charisma cannot get
higher than 10. So, if your intimacy level with a particular girl
has reached 10, i suppose you will be smart enough that it's time
to stop dating that particular girl since no matter how many times
you date, intimacy level can't rise anymore. To increase Charisma,
all you need is to increase Mei's levels. [Not weapon level, please!]

Sometimes, when a girl gains a new intimacy level with you, you will
get a chance to let your characters learn new spells or allow some
characters to learn new special attacks. Let me give some examples.

When intimacy level with Sodina is at level 1, you will learn Heal
[Spell] for everyone and Dancing Knives [Special] for Sodina only.
In such case, you can expect more MP to forge a weapon. Assuming
that Sodina has learned Heal [spell], Dancing Knives [Special]
already, her weapon level is at 50 and her level is at 55, you can
now forge a weapon that is at lv 55 for her. Let's take two
different cases now, when intimacy level with her is at level 1 and
2 respectively. When your intimacy level with her is at level 2,
you can learn Wind [Spell] and Barrier [Spell] when you forge
a weapon. Obviously, in case 2, it will take a higher MP to forge
a weapon because your characters will learn two new extra spells.

However, if Charisma is below intimacy level, you can't let everyone
learn Wind [Spell] and Barrier [Spell] for everyone, assuming Meis's
Charisma is at level 1, and Sodina's intimacy level with you is at
level 2 because Wind and Barrier are Sodina's level 2 spells. Get
it? It's best to make intimacy level the same as Charisma level.

Remember to forge the weapons first before you gain another intimacy
level with the girl. Why? The reason is simple. Assuming you have
forgotten to forge a weapon when Sodina is at intimacy level 1 with
you. That means that Sodina has not learnt Heal [Spell] and Dancing
Knives yet. Now, increase your intimacy level with Sodina to 2. You
found out that you can only learn Wind [Spell] and Barrier [Spell].
Hey, what happened to Heal [Spell] and Dancing Knives [Special]?
Got it or not? Confused...? I hope everything is clear so far.

Just in case, you have missed learning any spells. You can purposely
make a date a failure with that particular girl by answering the
wrong choice, lose the mini-games and so on. In this way, intimacy
level with Sodina will drop from 2 to 1 and your characters will
be able to learn Heal [Spell] and Sodina will be able to learn
Dancing Knives [Special]. If not, you can give items like Adult
Novel, Big Umbrella etc to girls, which will help you to decrease
intimacy level(s) with them. I guess even if i keep quiet, you
would probably be able to guess what's the 'content' inside
Adult Novel.

Rags/Rusty Weapons
==================
Throughout the entire game, you will definitely come across tons
of Rusty Weapons and Rags. Don't worry too much! As these items
have already rusted, they have not lived up to their usefulness.
So, the only way is to forge these Rusty weapons in Sacred Altar
to turn these weapons into Vintage Weapons. Each Sacred Altar
can only forge one Rusty Weapon into Vintage Weapon and it
took quite a long time for these weapons to turn into Vintage.
Guess how long? At least 10 hours or more. And, there are a
total of 6 Rusty Weapons and 1 Rags for you to forge in Sacred
Altar. My advice is as soon as you get them, go to the nearest
Sacred Altar and forge these weapons.

So, is it worthwhile? Like what Desmond Xie< a gamer in singapore>,
i personally agree with him. Unless you forge these Rusty Weapons
early, or it will be of no use. It took over 10 hours and within
this time duration, you would probably gain over 15 levels and
by that time, your main weapon will be very strong. And, once
a Rusty Weapon changes to a Vintage Weapon, you can't forge the
Vintage Weapon again to increase its strength. A Vintage Weapon
is pretty strong in the beginning but as the game progresses when
your characters' levels are all over 60, your main weapons are
probably more stronger than Vintage Weapon as you keep on forging
your main weapons.

So, should i spent the time forging these Rusty Weapons? Of course,
you can if you want! It doesn't hurt if you have more stronger
weapons, am i right? The only Rusty item which you really must
forge is Rags as it changes to School Girl after forging and School
Girl is one of the outfits [Special] for Nelsha.

Note:Rusty Weapons and Rags can only be fortified in Sacred Altar,
and not only other ordinary forge. Got that?

VIII)Damashi
=======================================================================
One of the ways to save your game datas into a memory card is by
talking to any of the inn owners that are found in any towns. So,
what's the other ways? Yeah, you probably get it. You can save
the game at any time at the world map. So, what's the last way?

A save point...? Quite right! When you first head to the Ruins to
find the mineral, you will encounter a white creature call Damashi.
Bingo! So, to save, simply talk to Damashi by pressing the X button
in front of him. And, that's all. Isn't it easy?

Have you ever wondered?
=======================
On the surface, Damashi appears to be on your side, helping you to
save game datas but on the other side, he can sometimes be your
enemy. Why? You find it out yourself!

Tips:Be sure to save everytime before you enter a date.

Accessories
===========
Here is a list of accessories contributed by Dan Simpson. If there
is word, [Buy] in the 'location' column, it means you can buy
that accessory from the shop there, if not, it will mean that you
need to search for it, usually found in treasure boxes. All means
that all characters can equip this accessory and there are
certain accessories that are meant for female users only like
Dragon Ring, Evade Ring etc. A + means an increase and a -
means a decrease.

Note:The Hard Armor has a hidden Drawback, it doubles the damage
received by its wearer. So if they hit whoever is wearing
it for 20 dmg, that person actually loses 40 HP. Nasty!
However, if your defense is high enough, and the enemy you
are fighting isn't as powerful as your high defense, it will
     do 0 dmg.

Smoochy's Items
===============
You will find Smoochy hidden inside a treasure chest in Volcanic
Cave if you search everything inside. After rescuing Smoochy, he
will mention that he will go to Boyzby. So, what's Smoochy doing
in Boyzby? Kisses...? Why do he wants kisses for? You can find
Smoochy inside a house east of Amigo Tavern. Simple enough, he
will tell you how many times you have been kissed by a girl.
And, you can use the number of kisses that you have to exchange
item(s) with him.

Zozotto Casino Items
====================
It seems like Damashi loves to gamble. Anyway, in Zozotto, there's
a casino. What you should do first is to exchange CG into coins at
the counter. Each coin costs 50CG, which is rather quite expensive.
You need coins to gamble there. Now, try your luck and see if you
can win more coins. Finally, with the coins you won, you can
exchange the coins for items.

Note:There's a music jukebox somewhere in the casino. Just play the
jukebox and you can hear all the music tunes found in the game.
It seems like Ayumi Hamasaki has captivated many fans with her
beautiful voice. I recieved several mails from her fans who
were asking me how or where do i download her song, 'Depend
     on You' MP3.
